Fees Policy v1.1
Introduction
In the provision of professional services in return for a professional or student fee Baoyin Oriental Dance uses the policy: “Baoyin and students relationship policy” as reference for consistency of approach. “Student” is synonymous with “Dancer”.
General Principle
Professional or student fee and its amount are independent of any relationship other than the relevant professional or a contract for services that exists for the purpose of services from Baoyin Oriental Dance. The relationship between any member of Baoyin Oriental Dance and students of Baoyin Oriental Dance is a professional one; it is not, and normally should not be, a personal relationship such as that exists between friends and relatives and that between businesses, organisations, communities and other groups.
As in any educational environment all fees are standardised. Should there be any applicable discount given by Baoyin this is entirely voluntary and is private to the specific situation and is specific to that individual due to his/her specific circumstance that few may be aware of.
For a person with low income or financial difficulty, negotiation for discount must take place before the start of term. Such cases will be dealt with sympathetically and in confidence.
Commercial fees are governed by contracts and are dependent on scope of services.

Private / individual students
1. No refund to a student for a missed lesson is possible unless notice is given at the start of term. A notice at the start of term should be for two or more lessons in order to qualify for a reduction.除非通知給Baoyin在學期開始,退款被學生是不可能的。在學期開始通知,應該是為二個或更多課才合格減價。
2. Fee is payable per term at the start of each term (even when a student is on trial each term under the Admission Policy). 既使當學生是在試驗。付費是每學期開始。
3. Applicable discount is applied at the start of term
4. Fees are for lessons and do not include any equipment, costume, make-up etc. in the same way as that for a typical dance school.
5. When fees are due or are paid, discount or refund is considered for exceptional circumstances. Two of the tests for exceptions are whether the incident is beyond the payer’s control or whether the incident is a grave concern or a serious or continual breach of “Code of Conduct – 18 or under”. If the person could not possibly do the dances because it is too difficult, if not a full refund, at least a partial refund is considered. A partial refund calculation includes the concept of setup and management costs.
6. Where a student or his/her parent carries on business on terms and principles more onerous and restrictive than that specified in this policy then the more onerous and restrictive policy and terms shall apply as being his/her preference and it takes effect retrospectively.
Provision of service
Further explanation on the general principle above
Where a benefit is given to Baoyin by an individual or an organisation outside of this professional or business scope relationship this is deemed to be a voluntary donation to Baoyin Oriental Dance as it is unrelated to a specific dance related activity. If reciprocation of benefit is expected then this must be made known upfront and the return of benefit is on a like for like basis by default.
For example: buying a meal for Baoyin is a personal favour and in return Baoyin buys a meal is one such like for like reciprocal relationship. However offering a meal for free to Baoyin and expects a discount on professional fees at a later date would not be acceptable. On the other hand, offering a meal to Baoyin for a price and then using the money to offset the professional fee is acceptable. Similarly offering personal benefits to Baoyin will not affect the professional judgment in class. Please avoid embarrassment by such expectation.
Of course the exchange of unlike benefits could be separately and mutually agreed but this is not a right nor is it easily manageable in a professional relationship. Baoyin Oriental Dance may decline to do for reason of impact on other students on a professional basis. This principle does not in anyway affect personal or friendly relationship as they exist outside of this professional relationship.
