Admission Policy V1
Introduction
Baoyin Oriental Dance is focused
in the dance arts and it aims to
position where possible each group or dance class with appropriate levels of skills
and artistic potential and commitment to the Baoyin Oriental Dance ethos. The
effects of critical mass will affect how a dance class is run and the intake of
potential students.
Principles for admission
for any one individual
- Admission
(automatic carry over from the previous term unless notice is given) and
registration is required for each term.
- As
for any dance group and vocational development, admission is assessed on
an individual basis. Being member of a group does not mean automatic entry
even if some of the members from the group in which the applicant belongs
to are already admitted
- An
interview and audition may be required prior to entry, a potential student
is on trial for up to three lessons prior to admission
- Admission
to an existing group will be considered in the context and make-up of the
existing students in the group.
- Admission
is not based on a competition or on a pre-set list of selection criteria
applicants but is based on appropriate opportunity at the time of
application. The decision on admission rests with Baoyin Oriental Dance
only. As there is no competition no one should feel as a winner or a loser
whether or not a person joins. There is no automatic entry for the best or
the talented.
- If
the applicant has any medical condition or disability he/she or his/her parents
or guardians must notify Baoyin Oriental Dance in writing at the time of
application.
- As
is standard practice in this sector Baoyin Oriental Dance will not state
its reason for not offering a place.
- Entry
is independent of the applicant’s race, religion, nationality, or ethnic
or national origin, area of residence or socio-economic group
- By
admission each applicant agrees not to inflict politics, harm, both emotional
or physical, and unwarranted gossip on other students both in and out of
the dance lessons. Where the applicant is a child, this principle also
applies to the child’s parents or guardian.
- Where
a student has attended two or more lessons (typically an elapsed period of
two to three weeks for weekly lessons) e.g. on trial, have a “taster” the
student is deemed to be admitted for the term unless the contrary is
expressed in writing.
Minimum requirements
- The
applicant is 5 years or older and has sufficient maturity
- The
applicant enjoys satisfactory general health and will be able to attend
lessons and participate fully
- Fees
are paid in accordance with the Fees Policy
- Punctual
and near full attendance rate (unless mutually agreed at the start of
term)
- Meeting
these minimum requirements is an indicator and does not guarantee
admission.
